Congratulations to the Delanuez family!
Our CEO Michael Dey joined other leaders in the Greenville community this morning in order to dedicate the house they built with Habitat for Humanity's CEO Build at Grace Point. This is part of Habitat's annual CEO Build, where local CEOs join forces to donate their time to build a home for a deserving family. Congratulations to the Delanuez family!

Thank You to Our Dedicated Volunteers and Those Who Donated Materials
This past Saturday, February 13, your Home Builders Association of Greenville stepped out to help Habit for Humanity rehabilitate and weatherize a family's home in Greer. With the help of donations from our members and volunteers from our Community Service Committee, we were able to complete the project despite the cold weather.
Thank you to Gateway Supply for donating the plumbing trim out needed for the bathroom and kitchen; thank you to Davis Services for taking care of the HVAC system; thank you to STEAMATIC of Greenville for taking care of the carpet and vinyl floor cleaning; and thank you to Tuck Williams of HomeWorks for taking care of pressure washing the siding and driveway.

Habitat for Humanity and HBA Partner to Help Greer Family
On February 13, the HBA of Greenville and Habitat for Humanity of Greenville need your help! Your HBA has partnered with Habitat of Greenville to rehabilitate and weatherize a family's home in Greer. With donations and volunteers from HBA of Greenville members, we can knock this project out in a day or two. Some of the materials needed include doors, a mail box, kitchen appliances, and carpet. Habitat celebrates 330 homes in Greenville
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Habitat for Humanity of Greenville
County has kicked off construction for the 330th Habitat home built
in the Upstate.
Community members joined together on Wednesday, June 24 in
the Abigail Springs Subdivision for a wall raising ceremony, accompanied by the
homeowners. The wall raising is one of the most important and iconic moments
for a Habitat Build project, said Monroe Free, Habitat Greenville’s President
and CEO.
This ceremony marks the 330th Habitat home built in
Greenville County since 1985. The 330th home also comes during the
30th anniversary of Habitat for Humanity in Greenville, making
today’s celebration a golden one for Habitat.
Habitat Greenville also recognized Christ
Church Episcopal, Fluor Corporation and Furman University as longtime community
partners throughout the organization’s 30-year history, along with Habitat
founders and Representative Garry Smith of Simpsonville. Smith recently
authored legislation to grant tax exemption on construction materials for
nonprofits who build homes for low-income citizens.

Building Materials Purchased by Charities Exempted from Sales Tax
A bill supported by Habitat for Humanity and your Home Builders Association will exempt building materials purchased by the charity, and other similar charities, from sales tax.
H.3568, sponsored by Rep. Garry Smith of Simpsonville, was signed by Governor Haley earlier this month. It is expected to save Habitat about $5,000 a month and result in enough savings over the course of a year to result in the construction of one additional new home each year in Greenville County alone.

There are many families out here in Greenville County that we can all relate to in some way, whom are struggling and need a hand of hope. We have the means to extend that hand. You are letting them know that the future of their family and our community can be strengthened by action.

Habitat for Humanity receives South Carolina Nonprofit Excellence Award
The Nonprofit Excellence Award recognizes Habitat Greenville for exemplary governance and management and excellence in implementation of SCANPO’s Guiding Principles and Best Practices. Recipients of the Nonprofit Excellence Award are considered models for nonprofits throughout South Carolina and are asked to serve in peer leadership roles.
“Everything we do at Habitat is centered on our homeowner families,” said Monroe Free, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. “Our Board, staff and volunteers continuously work to the highest standards for their benefit, and we are honored to be recognized for that effort.”
Habitat received the award at SCANPO’s annual 2015 Nonprofit Summit in Charleston in Feburary. Founded in 1997, the SCANPO brings together South Carolina nonprofit leaders to strengthen the state’s entire nonprofit sector.
Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County was formed in 1985 and provides home ownership opportunities to low income families. Since its founding, Habitat has provided 323 Greenville County families with the American Dream. Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County is an Approved Professional Builder.

Habitat for Humanity wins Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award
The Greenville Chamber of Commerce honored Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County this week with the 2015 The Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award.
The annual award honors an individual or non-profit organization for their achievement in improving a neighborhood or community through physical appearance of the area, human development of the residents, or other efforts that improve quality of life.
Habitat received the award for its development, Abigail Springs, located in the Taylors community. Abigail Springs is the first mixed income development in Greenville County to focus on home ownership. Habitat purchased the parcel from a developer during the real estate recession in 2008 and after completion of infrastructure work, began construction of homes for families with low income (below 60 percent of AMI) in 2010. To date, 23 homes have been built; five additional homes will be built in 2015.
Residents of Abigail Springs are first-time homeowners who have been prepared for sustainable homeownership through Habitat Greenville’s program of sweat equity and educational preparation. The immaculate condition of their homes is evidence of pride of ownership, and the descriptions of their lives now, "peace and safety," "an opportunity to thrive," and "the greatest accomplishment of my life" attest to their quality of life. In creating Abigail Springs, Habitat accepted the challenge of utilizing an under-maintained, near-abandoned property to create an attractive, family-friendly neighborhood providing safe, stable and affordable housing for 32 families.
“This recognition means a lot to the Habitat team,” said Monroe Free, President/CEO of Habitat Greenville. “We are very proud of Abigail Springs and of what the community means to the Habitat homeowners who reside there.”
