Past Presidents get together to welcome a new club member and Pin 2014 HBA President.

On December 9 your Home Builders Association invited past presidents of the association to lunch at the Commerce Club, sponsored by Gallivan, White, and Boyd. There were lots of stories and plenty of advice for 2014 HBA President Mike Freeman of ACA/Freewood Contracting. The group also welcomed current president Rick Quinn of Quinn Satterfield to their club.

Three HBA of Greenville member companies made Inc. magazine's list of fastest growing private companies in America.

Richard Harris Quinn

Richard Harris Quinn of Greenville died Saturday, June 18, 2011.

He was the son of the late Ethel Harris and Kirby Jernigan Quinn. Mr. Quinn graduated from Greenville High School and the University of Georgia. After serving in the United States Air Force, he worked in both the furniture business and in real estate. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Quinn is survived by his wife, Kay Stribling Quinn; son and daughter-in-law, Richard Harris Quinn, Jr. (Rick) and Martha Wilson Quinn; daughter and son-in-law, Farell Quinn and James Johnston McGinness; six grandchildren, Taite Stribling Quinn, Harris Buchanan Quinn, Greer Cleveland Quinn, Emma Farell Quinn, James Johnston McGinness, Jr., Thomas Quinn McGinness; and sister and brother-in-law, Melinda Quinn Furman and Joseph Earle Furman. Mr. Quinn is predeceased by two brothers, Kirby Jernigan Quinn, Jr. and Charles Edward Quinn.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 22nd at three o'clock at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Friends are invited to visit with the family following the service in the adjacent church atrium.

Quinn Satterfield, Homes of Hope partner on two new homes in West Greenville

Homes of Hope announced that Quinn Satterfield will construct two new single family homes on Gower Street in West Greenville. The project is being funded by Resurgent Capital Services, an international manager of consumer debt portfolios.

The homes will be 1,208 square feet. One will be rented for $595 per month, the other will be sold for $99,900.

Homes of Hope is a charity that works to meet the needs of low-income families through rental and home ownership opportunities. Its objective in West Greenville is to diversify and strengthen the community through housing opportunities.

ABCs of New Construction Held at the Cove at Butler Springs

This week 25 HBA members visited The Cove at Butler Springs to learn about modern construction techniques and how to apply that knowledge to selling new homes.

The event was sponsored by Quinn Satterfield and New Home Star. Rick Quinn led a tour of two new homes in the community and discussed the latest trends and technology for energy efficiency, site development, and construction techniques.

Government Affairs Forum with Greenville City Manager

Your Home Builders Association of Greenville held the first Government Affairs Forum this week at the HBA Office. The guest speaker was John Castile, City Manager of the City of Greenville.

Nearly 20 HBA members turned out to discuss city issues with Castile. Among the issues discussed were balancing growth and development with density, staff reductions in the building inspections department, code enforcement issues and keeping the permit process up-to-date, future plans for moving the city forward in a new economy, and reforming business licenses.

The HBA committed to Castile that the association will work with the city to help it solve problems in a manner that does not contribute to delays and expenses for Home Builders.

A light breakfast and coffee was sponsored by Quinn-Satterfield.
